Don’t we all remember the chant we used to sing when we were younger? Back in middle school I sure do, a song that used to play on the radio all the time; a smooth beat and catchy tune, and the sound of a man proclaiming, “Mike Jones!!” That’s right, I’m indeed talking about him, the one and only. Hailing from Houston, TX, Mike Jones blew up back in 2006-2007 after he came out with the hit single “Back Then” which hit platinum the following year.

After he released “Who is Mike Jones” and “The American Dream EP”, he dropped “The Voice” in 2009 which hit #12 on Billboard’s Top 100 Charts. Then this talented down-south rapper went on a hiatus for a while, never to be seen or heard of until recently, where he emerged from the shadows with a surprising gift: A mixtape titled “Money Train”, dropped on New Year’s Day 2015. After not dropping music for two years, his fans received him gratefully and interested to hear the new variation of the rapper that they all know and love. Uploaded to Datpiff, the tape can be found here:

With hits such as “Trappin,” and “Call Me When You Need Me,” this tape has been warmly recieved by Mike Jones fans all over, and rekindled my memory of the rapper I honestly thought was a one hit wonder. Being able to snap back like that from such a hiatus… maybe there’s more to this entertainer than we know. Is there? Listen to his tape… to find out.
